Thrombus, AKA blood clot, can be classified into red, white, or mixed.[1][2]


Cases

These two stroke patients both underwent successful mechanical thrombectomy, but the thrombi retrieved present different characteristics.

(A): A red thrombus retrieved from an elderly patient with atrial fibrillation.
(B): Several white thrombi retrieved from a young patient with a history of cancer.
